Artisan Nester Anita - The Spherical Bird Nester

The Anita, the largest 'Spherical' model in our Artisan Wild Bird Nester range, offers a larger cavity perfect for species of small garden birds who roost together, providing a cosy place to roost during harsh winter months, and potentially serving as a nest in the spring time. Crafted as a Fair Trade product, the Bird Nester features a sturdy inner frame for support, with attached hooks at the rear and a long loop at the top to facilitate secure placement within the natural leaf cover and vegetation of ivy, bushes, trees, or hedges. The nester's small, round entrance is reinforced with steel and slightly protruding, making it easy for birds to land and perch on.

Purchasing this Fair Trade product not only gives a bird a nest but also supports the Artisan workers in Southern Bangladesh who create them, funding the survival of many women and their families from rural communities in desperate poverty. Handmade to the highest quality finish using natural sea grass and recycled saris, each nester is unique in colour, as individual artisans choose the colourful recycled sari patterns, making every nester different.

To ensure the best protection for the birds, the nester should be positioned in a sheltered space, preferably facing between North and South-East, to provide a warm, protected roosting space out of the prevailing wind, which can be a life-saver for small birds during cold, harsh weather conditions. Handwoven and hand-stitched onto a metal frame, the Fair Trade product offers essential protection against the weather in winter and may be hung or secured into bushes or shrubs, with an integrated fixing wire for added convenience.
