When opening the big, tall monarch butterfly tents, be careful. After you slip off the elastic strap from around the circle, the cube cage can pop open unexpectedly, so make sure you have plenty of space and no breakable objects close by.

After opening your net cage, the PVC side will be creased from folding. Get the creases out quickly by blow-drying the PVC with a hair dryer for about 5 minutes, or place the PVC toward warm sun to relax the wrinkles.

Always close the cage door so the zippers meet at the TOP CENTER. If a caterpillar is somewhere on the zipper, this will allow you to zip down the other side to open.

Clean the mesh cage after a disease outbreak or at season's end by soaking it in a 5% bleach solution (19 parts water to 1 part bleach) for about 20 minutes. The cage can be soaked in a tub or laundry tub.

Rinse your butterfly garden with water and then let it sun dry- hang it on a clothesline or put a rock on the floor so it won't blow away.

When folding the cage for storage, place your hands on opposite upper corners of the cage and press one corner in to fold the cage flat. Store the cage flat in a closet, under a bed, behind a couch, etc.

The heavy-duty outdoor monarch butterfly cage is weather, predation, tear, and parasitoid resistant. The nylon fabric is much stronger than conventional pop-up cage netting. The cage has an added seam of protection around the zipper, preventing the monarch caterpillar from pupating on the zipper and being damaged when unzipped.

The collapsible design allows for easy storage and reuse. The unfolded measures 15 x 15 x 30 inches, and it is tall and wide enough to hold large 4 of 2.5 feet tall milkweed plants. You can raise up to 40 caterpillars at a time in one enclosure. The wings of a new butterfly are not at risk of breaking when trying to stir up.

The mesh panels provide good airflow, and the fine mesh enclosure is soft and breathable, ensuring your caterpillars will be safe and comfortable for the duration of their stay.

The side-opening door allows you to never interrupt chrysalises on the cage roof. The large zipper opening makes it easy to feed your butterflies, then release them into the wild. Butterflies will often land on little hands and faces before flying away.
